Review:

Excerpt:

“You’re the big boss.” She looked up at me and smiled. She was dressed in a cheap cotton shirt and jeans that should be on the burn pile, but that smile was pure gold. This girl had guts.

“I told José he was a fool to try and cheat you,” she said. “I wasn’t part of it, and I don’t work for you. I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.”

She’d heard about our policy protecting bystanders. Of course it doesn’t apply to anyone whose eyewitness testimony can put me in a courtroom. Well, try to put me in a courtroom. In Mexico nobody would dare accuse me, and I’ve enough resources in England to guarantee a police investigation would come to nothing, but it’s not my style to take chances. Solitaire would be going into the ground along with Escamilla.

“Mr Vazquez,” Solitaire gave me her best smile. “I don’t expect something for nothing.” She dropped her voice. “You’d like me,” she whispered. “I’ve heard about you. We’re the same.” “Are we?”

“Yes, I can make you very happy.” She brushed my hand over her cheek and then kissed my palm. “I’m a very good girl,” she said quietly. “Unless you prefer a naughty one?” She sucked my thumb, and I was instantly rock hard.

The head of Los Zetas, brutal, eye for an eye, multi millionaire... Arturo runs it all.

Going after a traitor, he will find someone he never imagined... Solitaire. She showed him her loyalty and dark side.

One night with her wouldn't be enough. He had to have her in whatever way he could.

Solitaire has been tortured, raped and can't remember her past.

Arturo saved her, gave her a second chance.
Seriously, he didn't have to. He's brutal remember.

"You're mine forever."- Arturo

While their relationship grows, word of a Songbird, who's leaking information is unearthed. Could it be Solitaire? Could she be the Songbird? Hell, she can't even remember her past.

"I have no.idea what I've been doing. I guess I'll have to find out at some point."- Solitaire

If so, she'll lose everything, including her life at the hands of a man she has fallen for. What kind of luck, seriously!

"You're worried I'll run screaming from th he reality of Cartel life?"- Solitaire

Solitaire has to find out the truth, one way or another. But will she out her own self in the process?

Songbird was a different kind of read for me. Having the backdrop of Cartel life, crime boss, I hardly read book's like this, but I enjoyed SongBird and open to a broder range of book's. Arturo is a character you wouldn't want to cross paths with on the street. That's for sure! He's scary, a ring leader, but Solitaire brings out a new side of him. I loved seeing that transformation... believe me, he's still scary though. Lol! Solitaire doesn't truly know who she is, the life she led be for Arturo. She can't remember. Arturo saved her, when he could have killed her. Being with him opens up a new world, one that she's kind of familiar with. She's a bitch when she needs to be. She's feisty, stands her ground and grows so much during this book. It's amazing. Their such great characters. Songbird is a book about finding love when you weren't looking, but also a mystery. It takes you on a hardcore journey. One you'll never want to take yourself. The author, that mind. I would love to go inside it for just a few minutes, but I think I would be traumatized by it. Lol. 4 STARS!!!

💠 Promo Tour for Temptation 💠

TEMPTATION BY STEVE GENIS BLOG TOUR 22nd October to 31st October

                                 Hosted By Fallen For Books

SYNOPSIS
Temptation (Book 2)

Life couldn’t get any more complicated for Rick. He's going through adolescence and coming to terms with his sexuality, which he hides from his parents.

Meet Mr Devereaux, Rick's PE and French teacher who Rick can't stop thinking about. To complicate matters even more, Mr Devereaux is married to the principal of the same school.

As Rick comes to terms with being a young homosexual man, he fantasises about what it would be like to be with an older man. After sneaking into his teacher's office and almost getting caught out, Rick realises that his fantasies and urges are beginning to take over his life.

One night, at dinner, Rick's father comes home and reveals some news that sends shockwaves through Rick. His father has just received a promotion at work and has been offered to relocate to London, England for one year, with all expenses paid.

Moving to London would mean that Rick would be away from his friends and Mr Devereaux and ultimately, he tries to convince his father to allow him to stay in Australia and live with relatives while he and his mother move to London. His father refuses, leaving Rick no choice but to pack up his life and go with them.

When they arrive in London things are far from easy for Rick. After finally settling into a new English school, Rick makes some new friends including Nate, who is openly gay.

Together Nate and his friends convince Rick to go to a local bar. There he meets Jared, the owner of the bar, who is drop dead gorgeous, gay and he happens to be an older man.

Rick starts spending a lot of time at the bar on weekends with his new friends, and soon, sparks fly between Jared and Rick.

With Mr Devereaux on the other side of the world, Rick has finally found another older man who happens to be gay, but is he the older man that he wants?

Rick's temporary life in London is cut short when he suddenly becomes seriously ill and must return to Australia to make a full recovery before he can return back to school. However, it takes Rick longer than anticipated to recover from his illness and unfortunately, having missed out on too much school, he must repeat the school year when he fully recovers, making him the oldest student in his class.

Will Rick finally have a chance with Mr Devereaux?

Temptation is the second book in The Obsession Series, and a prequel to Obsession.

EXCERPTS

EXCERTS FROM OBSESSION

‘What’s your first name, Sir?’ I asked.
He looked at me and smiled.
‘It’s Jacques,’ he said in that accent of his.
‘Jacques,’ I repeated.
‘I hope you don't mind me asking sir, but do you have any children?’

‘Well, there is nothing for me back in London so I thought maybe I’d start a new life here in Australia, you know, make a fresh start and all that jazz.’
My heartbeat was racing, I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. ‘Are you serious?’ I asked him, horrified.
‘Yes.’
‘Jared you’re a fucking idiot.’ That's all I could say.
‘Excuse me?’ he replied, completely flabbergasted.
‘Sorry, but you are, you gave up a perfectly good life in London for what? Why, Jared, why would you do something like that?’

‘What ze fuck are you doing, Rick?’ he asked me, obviously shocked.
‘I’m sorry, I really am. I don’t know what came over me,’ I said as I leant forward and kissed him again.

‘I’ve been wanting to this body for the past five years and now I finally get the chance.’ I started sucking again.
‘You know you were right about one zing.’
‘What’s that?’
‘You definitely can give a better blow job ‘zan my wife,’ he said as I placed his cock in my mouth and started sucking again. ‘Now I know what you’ve really been doing all ‘zose times you missed class,’ he continued.

‘Hey Kyle,’ I heard one of them ask. It was Josh’s voice,
‘Yeah?’ replied Kyle.
‘Do you reckon Rick’s gay?’
I froze as I sat there with my pants still down to my ankles listening to what they were saying. I suddenly looked down and realised I had left my bag on the seat outside. My heart sunk.
‘What?’ I heard Kyle reply.
‘Why would you say something like that?’
‘Well, just something I saw the other day at camp, that’s all,’ Josh said, as the two of them continued to urinate at the urinal.
‘What did you see?’
‘Well, while we were all in the main hall playing pool, I walked outside to go and use the toilets. I looked over and saw, Rick looking through the door to the bathroom in the cabin.’
‘So?’ Kyle replied as I heard him zip up his pants and flush the urinal.
‘He had his pants down to his ankles and he was jerking off.’ Josh finished and he, too, zipped up his pants and flushed the urinal.

REVIEW of Bleed Like Me

bleed like me
Title: Bleed Like Me
Author: Christa Desir
Date of Publication: October 7th 2014
goodreads-badge-add-plus-d700d4d3e3c0b346066731ac07b7fe47   About Bleed Like Me: From the author of Fault Line comes an edgy and heartbreaking novel about two self-destructive teens in a Sid and Nancy–like romance full of passion, chaos, and dyed hair. Seventeen-year-old Amelia Gannon (just “Gannon” to her friends) is invisible to almost everyone in her life. To her parents, to her teachers—even her best friend, who is more interested in bumming cigarettes than bonding. Some days the only way Gannon knows she is real is by carving bloody lines into the flesh of her stomach. Then she meets Michael Brooks, and for the first time, she feels like she is being seen to the core of her being. Obnoxious, controlling, damaged, and addictive, he inserts himself into her life until all her scars are exposed. Each moment together is a passionate, painful relief. But as the relationship deepens, Gannon starts to feel as if she’s standing at the foot of a dam about to burst. She’s given up everything and everyone in her life for him, but somehow nothing is enough for Brooks—until he poses the ultimate test. Bleed Like Me is a piercing, intimate portrayal of the danger of a love so obsessive it becomes its own biggest threat.

Q&A with Christa Desir: When you start a book, do you already have the whole story in your head or is it built progressively? I usually start with characters and a very vague idea of what their problem is. For example, in my alcoholic girl boxer book, I had a voice in my head of a girl who was really angry and had just gotten out of rehab. The rest of it came out (including her being a boxer) as I started writing. Tell us about your first book. What would readers find different about the first one and your most recent published work? My first book FAULT LINE is a book about a girl who is gang-raped at a party and is told from the POV of her boyfriend who did not attend the party. BLEED LIKE ME is told from a girl’s POV who is in a very co-dependent and unhealthy relationship. BLM is not exactly an “issue” book in the same way that FAULT LIINE is and even the things that come up in BLM aren’t as polarizing as FL. Books about rape can be very tricky, particularly if people are sexual violence survivors. BLEED is a different sort of book because it leaves the reader with questions about what we’re willing to sacrifice in order for someone to love us. Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing? I find the business of publishing to be very challenging and when all that noise gets in my head, I think it is hard to write. I miss writing in a vacuum of pure writing and nothing else. Every morning I try to recreate that vacuum by writing for a few hours with no noise or internet or anything else, but I still can’t stop thinking about the business side of things. (For example: will this book be too controversial? Will schools not want to shelve it? Will people hate it because it’s not a happy ending and therefore sales will suffer? What are your current projects? I have a book about an alcoholic girl boxer that is coming out in January 2016. And I have a collaboration with author Jolene Perry that comes out in May 2016. I’m also working on a long-term pet project that is just for fun and just for me. Which makes me very happy. :-)   Excerpt: Thirty-five days. Thirty-five fucking days. No Brooks. Be back in a month was a cruel joke. I deleted his text and stopped feeling anything at all. Dennis had concocted a huge sale to get rid of the summer inventory. He wanted me to build wooden birdhouses to mark the sale aisles. It was the stupidest idea I’d ever heard, but he threatened to fire me if I didn’t do it and I thought he might be serious. “Why don’t you just put sale signs over these aisles?” “Shut it,” Dennis barked at me. “I’m just saying, a bunch of birdhouses aren’t gonna let people know they can take fifty percent off of all the merchandise.” “Quit your bitching. You’ve been in a surly mood this past month and you need to snap out of it.” I gaped at him. Was I that obvious? “No, I haven’t.” Dennis shook his head and exchanged a look with Ricardo. “Yes, you have. Now just finish putting your tools away and get your head in the game or I’m dropping you.” I wasn’t the only surly one. Dennis had been on his period ever since Brooks had shown up drunk that day. “You’re not dropping me. No one else can work the circular saw.” “Ricardo can. And working the circular saw isn’t a requirement of the job.” “It is if you have to build bullshit birdhouses,” I mumbled. Dennis’s nostrils flared. “No more discussion. Tools away and you better be back here this weekend to work the sale.” I opened my mouth to argue more, but Dennis held up his hand. When the hand came up, I knew Dennis was really pissed. I shut my mouth and moved to the storage garage. What did I care anyway? I had nowhere else to be. The lights flickered as I stood surveying the piles of wood and tools littered along the floor. I sat down and started collecting nails, putting them into the tiny, labeled boxes Dennis housed them in. The door to the storage garage creaked open and my head whipped up. Brooks. Heat I hadn’t felt in days surged into my body. My hands trembled and I clenched them into fists. “Where the hell have you been?” He took a tentative step toward me. “Rehab.” “Really?” My hands unclenched and my eyes scanned his body as I got to my feet. He’d gotten thinner and something about his face looked not quite right. “Yeah. Sue found some E in my duffel and sort of overreacted. I think fucking Ray tipped her off about it. She told me I needed to pull my shit together and get clean if I wanted to stay with her.” He moved closer to me, and his hand reached out to trace the hoops in my ear. I shut my eyes for a second and allowed his long fingers to figure eight around the silver before I shook him off. “You could’ve called me or returned my texts. It’s been thirty-five days. Longer than a month.” My breath came in short bursts, squeezed from the hole in my throat that had been shrinking since the moment he left. His fingers moved to the now completely faded hickey on my neck. He circled it, his thumb brushing over the smoothness as he stared at me, took all of me in with his too keen eyes. Butterflies fluttered around my stomach. Then he dropped his mouth to my pale skin and sucked hard. My insides coiled, the butterflies stilled. I released a long shaky breath. “They took my cell and it wasn’t the kind of rehab where you get to make a bunch of phone calls,” he said, nipping me with his teeth. “Are you going to apologize?” I grabbed at my last vestiges of logic and pushed him off my neck. “I don’t do apologies,” he said, and his hands circled my waist before he plunged his mouth onto mine. His tongue traced my bottom lip, pressing me to open. Part of me wanted to push him away. Drop him before he bailed on me all over again. Make him beg for my forgiveness. But seeing him in front of me practically vibrating with want, everything fell out of my head. It was like an IV of Ecstasy pumped directly into my heart. I clung to his neck. His hands slid beneath the back of my shirt, moving up and down my spine. I raked my fingers through his hair and opened my mouth wider. My entire body trembled with how much I’d missed him. He pulled away for a second, dropping kisses along my jaw before whispering, “Does the door lock?” I nodded, drawing in a quick breath. Dennis had installed a lock on the inside of the door a month after he realized how much time I spent alone working there. Brooks released me and went to shut and lock the door. “Let me see you,” he said, stepping toward me and lifting me on to Dennis’s work table. He moved his hands to the bottom of my shirt. I stilled for a second and then helped him pull my shirt off. His hands shook a little when he lifted off the next layer of my thin tank top. “You’re shaking.” He grinned at me. “Anticipation.” The lump in my throat got bigger. “Really?” His hands moved over my stomach, sliding over old scars. “Really. It’s been a long thirty-five days.”   About Christa Desir: christa desirI’m Christa Desir and I write young adult novels. HERE/NOW Book 3 of the Depth of Emotion Series

Carter Sinclair…
He’s gone home.
He’s assessed mistakes.
He’s risen from the ashes.

Carter was a “rules” kind of guy. He worked and believed in the system, but the system was unjust. His wife is dead, his brother tragically injured, and an innocent woman paid for the sins of another. Assessing his life, he determines that deceit and lies no longer have a place there. He’s lived in the darkness of his own despair, and watched evil corrupt the lives of those he loves. His intent is to destroy it.
What he didn’t expect was something beautiful to emerge from the darkness...
Regret lives in the past.
Hope lives in the future.
Reality is the present.

Here/Now
is the struggle.

Is it possible that tragic circumstances can birth the most unexpected blessings?
